Session 5: Mid-Summer Masterclass: Impressionist Photography Series
Session 5:
Storytelling Through Seasons – Your Personal Narrative
Every Season is Your Chapter
Great impressionist photographers don’t just capture moments—they create ongoing visual narratives that span seasons and years.
Building Your Visual Story:
- Location Loyalty: Choose 3-5 locations you’ll revisit throughout the year. Document how they change with seasons, weather, and time.
- Character Development: If you photograph people, follow their stories over time. Children growing, relationships deepening, families changing.
- Emotional Arcs: Create series that follow emotional journeys—grief to healing, uncertainty to confidence, isolation to connection.
The Mid-Summer Advantage: Summer offers unique storytelling opportunities:
- Golden Hour Magic: Longer days mean more golden hour opportunities
- Outdoor Life: People are more active outdoors, creating natural story moments
- Natural Abundance: Flowers, leaves, and natural textures are at their peak
Project Ideas:
- The Daily Walk: Photograph the same route every day for a week, focusing on different elements each time
- Sunset Series: Document 30 different sunsets from the same location
- Family Summer: Create an impressionist documentary of your family’s summer activities
