Garden through Impressionist Lens

The Secrets of impressionist images

Turn your camera into a paintbrush!

Join me for a fun 2 days impressionist photography workshop in Auckland 17-18 August 2019.

Impressionist photography is excellent for beginners, but it can provide exciting new directions for skilled photographers who can push the boundaries of traditional photography and stimulate their work and thinking. Creating images using impressionist techniques can also help photographers who have been trained using more rigid principles to approach their work with a more playful attitude.

Creating impressionist work doesn’t mean just using special techniques. You still have to use your sense of composition and have a knowledge of light, colour and other elements of visual design to present your subject in the best possible way.

I will teach you how you can turn your camera into a paintbrush! From the choice of subject matter to use of appropriate techniques, there are many factors that contribute to the success of impressionist photographs. My goal is to help you make your images look more like impressionist paintings than photographs.

The purpose of this workshop is to:
  • Help you to understand the importance of light in impressionist photography
  • Help you to gain the essential skills of impressionist photographer
  • Help you to use composition for expressive images
  • Help you to find inspiration and be continually creative

Feedback from previous students:
"Thanks for a wonderful photographic experience. You were a fabulous tutor. It was a great weekend with a stimulating bunch of people." -- Elizabeth
"This weekend has been a fantastic learning experience for me. The learning started a month before the workshop when I received your original email with the five questions. To answer these questions I was forced to confront a number of issues concerning my personal photography and where I wanted to take it. The biggest and most important thing I learned this weekend is about feelings. I have always approached photography as a technical exercise, but this weekend I listened to what you had to say about getting in touch with my feelings and transferring or translating that emotion to my photography.I'm your latest Impressionism convert!"-- Brian Eastwood
"Moira and I wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed your workshop last week end. You have inspired us to ‘just do it’ and enjoy the journey. We felt our trip from Australia to Auckland was well worth it and would have no hesitation in recommending your workshops to our friends. The venue added to our enjoyment and certainly catered for our photography needs as well as our culinary. Having already taken one of your on-line courses it was great to meet you in person and we certainly learned heaps. Thanks again."-- Julie
"Thank you for a wonderful inspiring & fun weekend! It has to be the best workshop I’ve been to!!"-- Bev
"Thank you for a great workshop and a lovely weekend. I think that I can honestly say, that is the best workshop I have ever done! Loved the new techniques"-- Lynda
